Muumimaailma ~ Moominworld

On a beautiful late summer Saturday, we drove over to Naantali with some family of mine and visited the enchanted world of the Moomin trolls, the plump, white, large-nosed creations of Finnish author Tove Jansson.

Their blue cylindrical house was the main attraction.

The Moomins were waiting on the porch.

Many flowers were still in bloom that day.

We saw their firestation as well.

Matias placed a call from the Police Officer's building
(since that is his Halloween alter ego).

That call didn't end so well for me...

Ellen spent the day excitedly running around.

While I helped Moominpappa with his writing.

The lot of us entered the Moominworld forests.

And came upon a scary witch.

As well as a sea monster!

The bay of Moominworld was a beautiful place.

And Matias and Ellen enjoyed exploring it.

Ellen and I tried out the echo tree.

Sini got to meet her childhood namesake: Little My.

Our last stop was the Hemulen's house.

And our little sunshine enjoyed the entire day!

So to recharge, she got to try some fries and ketchup, which she loved!

AND JUST TO PROVE WE HAVEN'T CHANGED THAT MUCH IN TWENTY YEARS:
(Well, at least my taste in dresses hasn't changed!)

Moominworld is definitely a fun place to visit! And I like the fact that it's a theme park that isn't focused on lots of rides that waste a lot of unnecessary energy.  Instead, it's a big park where you can walk around and see the make-believe world and meet your favorite characters and take part in activities involving them.  And as a major plus, it's located in the beautiful seaside town of Naantali, where you can eat along the shore and walk among beautiful wooden buildings that are hundreds of years old.
